This 272-page book is subtitled “a beginner’s guide to robotics”. And, that’s exactly what it is. It’s the perfect choice for anyone who is starting their adventure into Coding and Robotics.

The book gets the beginner to an intermediate level in the shortest possible time.

The first few pages cover the basic principles. And, this is where you begin to realize that coding isn’t as complicated as you thought it was. But, that’s because the author explains everything so well. Using simple language and lots of colorful photos and clear illustrations.

MARIO

For your first task. You will build a cute little roving robot called Mario.

Step-by-step instructions are provided in the book. And, if you’ve ever built anything with Lego building blocks before, this is a breeze.

After that, things start to get interesting. As you prepare to get Mario to do something!

First, you will need to download the Lego Boost App onto your mobile device or tablet. But, don’t worry – full instructions are provided!

Next, you will need to follow the step-by-step guide to write your first program. To do this, you drag and drop program blocks into place.

Mario will then do whatever your program (code) instructs him to do.

Congratulations! You wrote your first program!

Now, spend some time ‘playing’ with Mario. Before moving on. Remember, it’s NOT all about coding! You need to have some ‘fun time’ too!

For your second task. You will build and code a brick-sorting robotic bird called Brickpicker. That can identify colored bricks and sort them into different containers.

CYBOT

The 264 -page LEGO BOOST Idea Book explores 95 ways to get creative with the Lego Boost set.

Unlike other books featured here. The Idea Book DOES NOT contain any step-by-step instructions. Instead, the build process is presented as a series of images. With a parts list, screenshots of programs, and lots of colorful photographs. But, a minimal amount of text.
